Is your child bright but struggling with early-developing reading, writing, or executive functioning skills?

The Read - Write - Reflect Half - Day program is a two-week, small-group intensive designed and led by licensed speech-language pathologists who specialize in language-based learning differences.

This is not a typical summer program. It’s targeted, research-based academic support — delivered in a fun, structured, confidence-building environment. We'll work in our Tenleytown office and take advantage of our outdoor picnic tables and shaded courtyard area. Each day includes a snack and bathroom break.

This program is ideal for children who:
-
Still haven't "launched" with grade expectations for reading, spelling, and/or writing
-
Have diagnosed or suspected dyslexia, dysgraphia, language disorder, or ADHD
-
Need support with phonemic awareness, sound-letter knowledge, decoding, spelling, and/or writing
-
Need more repetition than what is offered in a typical classroom
-
Fall behind academically despite seemingly strong verbal skills
-
Need a confidence boost in literacy acquisition
If your child works hard but still finds early elementary reading and writing overwhelming, this program is for them.
What Makes This Program Different
Led by Licensed Speech-Language Pathologists
Your child receives instruction from clinicians trained in language development, literacy, and executive functioning.

Small Group (Maximum 5 Students)
We maintain an intentionally small group size to provide individualized attention within a collaborative learning environment.
Explicit, Structured Instruction
We directly teach whatever your student needs:
-
Phonemic awareness
-
Sound-letter correspondence
-
Decoding
-
Spelling
-
Sentence writing
-
Idea organization for our older participants
-
Early paragraph writing skills for our older participants
Executive Function Coaching Built In
Students learn how to:
-
Use self-talk to guide their thoughts and actions
-
Sustain attention using age-appropriate strategies
-
Set reasonable goals and identify the steps needed to reach the goal
-
Self-monitor
-
Self-reflect
Confidence Building
We focus not just on skills — but on helping students feel capable, competent, and ready for the next school year.
Why Summer Is the Ideal Time for Literacy Intervention
Students can lose academic skills over the summer months — particularly in reading and writing.
A short-term, high-impact literacy and executive functioning intensive can:
-
Prevent or reduce summer learning loss
-
Strengthen foundational skills
-
Increase independence
-
Improve confidence

What Parents Receive

Pre-program skill screening
-
Individualized goal focus
-
